Rubber Processing

Rubber trees had their origin in Brazil. But the trees have come to stay in Kerala and it is now the backbone of Kerala’s economy. The once spice belt in Kerala is now the rubber belt. You can see the rubber trees being tapped in the morning, the sap (milk) being collected at noon, the sap being mixed with water and acid for thickening at noon, and the rubber sheets made in the afternoon. The sheets are then dried and sold in the market for the production of tyres.
